The projects span a broad range of topics including:
- Property-based Approach to Materials Design and Manufacturing
- Facilitated Fluidized Bed Combustion Synthesis
- Novel Thin Film Growth on Patterned Substrates
- Measuring Catalyst Activity and Selectivity
- Organic Nanostructures – Organic Colloidal Micelles / Atomic Force Microscopy
Emphasis will be placed on using state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities. Special events such as seminars, tutorials, workshops, visits to local industries, and socials are planned throughout the summer.
Program Description:
- Participants work for a summer at the University of Illinois at Chicago, collaborating with faculty and staff on current research projects on novel materials and processing.
- Open to students who are graduating in or after December 2002.
- Selection is based on applicant’s academic standing, a brief statement of interest, and a faculty reference.
- Award includes: $3,400 stipend, up to $400 for travel, up to $500 for housing.
- The program ends on August 2, 2002; the preferred starting date is May 28, 2002.
